Togakushi Shrine Hike in Winter
Winter changes the Togakushi hike. Snow, bus services and shrine access all differ from the green season.
What changes
- Snow on the cedar avenue and the steep stone approach to Okusha; traction and warm layers are essential.
- Bus service to Togakushi is reduced and can be suspended in heavy snow. Our tour is cancelled automatically if express buses are suspended.
- Access to Okusha and the upper trails can be restricted in deep winter, so the route may be adjusted.
Winter operation depends on bus services and snow conditions that change each season. Please email us before booking a winter date to confirm the route.
Getting there
Highland Express bus from Nagano Station toward Togakushi (roughly one hour). Check Alpico Bus's current winter timetable.
